Physical THERAPY STAFF

Pediatric physical therapy is the evaluation and treatment of physical impairments in children, ranging in age from newborn to early 20’s. The goal of pediatric physical therapy is to assist children with physical challenges to maximize their independence and improve their mobility, self care and other functional skills necessary for daily living. Pediatric therapy incorporates hands-on techniques and therapeutic exercises with play and recreational activities to reach this goal. The primary focus of pediatric physical therapy is to improve a child’s gross motor skills. Gross motor skills use the larger muscles of the body. Sitting, crawling, walking, running, jumping are all examples of gross motor skills. Pediatric physical therapists work closely with families of children to develop activities/exercises for home and school to achieve the best success possible.”
